PM Modi on Sunday visited the Uttar Pradesh's Shatabdi Nagar Namo Bharat Station and flagged off the remaining portions of India's first Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) and country's fastest metro.
PM Modi will undertake a Metro Ride from Shatabdi Nagar till Meerut South Station. Later, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate and dedicate to the nation various development projects worth around Rs 12,930 crore in Meerut.
Meerut Metro will become the fastest metro in the country. Its speed is 120 kmph, and design speed is 135 kmph. The 21-23 km section (Meerut South to Modipuram) will be completed in just 30 minutes, with 12-13 stations. The most amazing thing is that it will run on the same track and infrastructure as Namo Bharat trains. For the first time in India, such an integrated system where regional rapid and metro will run together. Traveling within Meerut city will now become super fast and convenient.
The 82 km Delhi–Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor includes 5-km stretch between Sarai Kale Khan and New Ashok Nagar in Delhi and the 21-km segment between Meerut South and Modipuram in Uttar Pradesh.
The Namo Bharat system is designed for speeds of up to 180 kmph and is intended to provide faster regional connectivity, linking Delhi with major urban centres such as Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Modinagar and Meerut.
The Delhi-Meerut RRTS Namo Bharat will cut travel time between the two cities to less than 1 hour, benefiting commuters.
